Joelle Fanciullo is a Licensed Social Worker who supports and empowers people struggling to love themselves and the scars they hold. She specializes in self-esteem, body image, and relational trauma. Her warm and insightful therapy style is informed by a background in neuroscience, body-centered psychotherapy, and spiritual healing.
Joelle’s own injuries, illnesses, and emotional ruptures led her down the path of mind-body healing nearly 20 years ago. Her gift to everyone she meets today is her wealth of knowledge and experience in the suffering and healing of deep emotional, physical, and spiritual wounds.
“When I was in high school, I experienced debilitating, long-term sports injuries and a dramatic decline in my quality of life. When yoga became a sort of magical solution for me, allowing me to transcend pain, I wanted to understand why. Since then, I’ve learned through neuroscience and time on both sides of the therapy room that our scars give us access to immense power – but first we must know how to pay attention to them.”
When you begin therapy with Joelle, the two of you will listen closely to your experiences through a blend of talk therapy and gentle, evidence-based, body-centered techniques. In this way, you will learn to identify the root of your pain and heal yourself from the inside out. It is a fascinating, beautiful process she is honored to co-create with her clients.
Joelle holds a Master of Social Work from Hunter College, a Master of Arts in Psychology from Wake Forest University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Villanova University. She is certified in Treating Complex Trauma with Internal Family Systems therapy. When she is not working or nerding out on mind-body things, Joelle almost always would prefer to be dancing, surrounded by lots of trees, or both.
